The Castle of Sirmione on Lake Garda

The Scaliger castle of Sirmione dates back to around 1250 and is one of the best preserved castles in Italy. Today it is in a perfect state of preservation and can be visited entirely: two crenellated towers dominate the lake and the dock, still functioning, which houses a lapidary from the Roman era. The castle of Sirmione is a suggestive fortress directly overlooking the lake, which is accessed via a drawbridge over the waters. The 146 steps allow you to reach the walkways and admire the surrounding area. The entrance to the castle is also the only way to enter the historic center of Sirmione.

The Grotte di Catullo in Sirmione

“Le Grotte”, as this Roman House was called before the excavations in the 1400s, are actually the well-preserved remains of a Roman villa built in the 1st century AD, and today considered the most important example of Roman Villa in the Northern Italy.

Also the reference to the Veronese poet Catullo dates back to the 1400s, but in reality there are no certain references: the villa was built after his death.

Isola del Garda

The Isola del Garda, also known as the Borghese Island, is the largest of the islands on Lake Garda and is located about 200 m from the coast, in the territory of San Felice del Benaco.

Today it can be reached by boat and is owned by the Counts Cavazza, who since 2002 have been organizing guided tours in the charming park and in the Villa Ferrari, a wonderful example of a villa built in the early 1900s which is the only example of Venetian neo-Gothic style on the lake .

Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda, in Trentino, is one of the northernmost towns of Lake Garda and enjoys a special charm. Here, in fact, the lake narrows and wedges itself between the high rocky walls of Monte Rocchetta: the water is colder and bluer, the panorama reflects the nearby Dolomites and the silence becomes more rarefied, also because on the Trentino part of the Lake Garda motor navigation is prohibited.

Riva del Garda, as the name suggests, overlooks the lake and is squeezed between its waters and the historic center, which creeps along the mountain. Riva is a well-equipped tourist resort, rich in history, inhabited since Roman times and with numerous testimonies of its medieval past.

Limone sul Garda

Limone sul Garda is one of the oldest and best preserved centers overlooking Lake Garda. The origins of the name are uncertain: they could derive from “limes”,  “border” in Latin, but in reality the lemons dominate this small pearl of Lake Garda. Limone has always been known for the cultivation of citrus fruits, which here, thanks to the lake breeze and its microclimate, have always been cultivated in the “limonere”. These are protected terraces, one on top of the other, where there are magnificent citrus groves. The most famous, today owned by the municipality, is the Limonaia del Castel, which dates back to the 1700s and is now open to the public.

Caneva world

It is a water park of over 100,000 square meters. equipped with a large number of slides, wave pool, lagoons, refreshment points and shops set in a “Caribbean” context with a very high visual impact. The theming is truly unique and, albeit very broadly, follows that of the famous “Disney Typhoon Lagoon” water park in Florida. The white sand that characterizes most of the walkable areas, the large volcano that erupts flames every hour, a considerable number of slides and various services, make it one of the best water parks in Europe.

Sigurta Garden Park

The ancient history of the Sigurtà Garden Park dates back to 14 May 1407, when, during the Venetian domination of Valeggio sul Mincio, the patrician Gerolamo Nicolò Contarini bought the entire property which at the time had a purely agricultural function.

It was in fact a farm or rather, as ancient documents tell us, of a “brolo cinto de mura”: lands cultivated with fodder enclosed within a high and safe wall.
